Farmland Preservation

Farmland Preservation

LMBT’s partnership with Northampton County has continued to increase farmland preservation funding. To date over 4,255 acres of prime farmland have been preserved, that’s over 50 farms – more than any other municipality in Northampton County.

Saving fertile farmland has been and will continue to be a high priority as an effective tool to keep LMBT’s farm economy viable. Preserved farms also provide our community with numerous ecological benefits, provide food and cover for wildlife, save our scenic views, and help keep local taxes in check since farms and open space lands require fewer public services.
