Effective planning is essential for sustainability and ‘smart growth”. With the 2022 Zoning Ordinance in place, along with an updated Comprehensive Plan (2023) and an Official Map, LMBT is well prepared to meet the future while avoiding unplanned development, loss of prime farmland, and harm to our streams and river. We have the tools to protect our quality of life and our community that values its unique cultural and historical assets.
As a steering committee member for the Slate Belt Multi-Municipal Plan, Sandra is representing Lower Mt. Bethel Township as the municipalities and townships of the Slate Belt area work together with the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission to create a sustainable plan for the future. This will include a set of actions that will protect and preserve the existing desirable features in the Slate Belt region, and a well-reasoned strategy for preservation of natural features and farmland, a transportation plan, a parks and recreation plan, a historic resources plan, and a housing and development plan.
